KELLY STOBART

Owner and Stylist

Kelly brings her experience as a Master Stylist from TRIO Salon Chicago and as a Director at Art + Science to her own hair salon – Beauty and Balance. At both salons, she educated and trained up-and-coming stylists in various cutting and styling techniques, and was voted “Most Inspirational Staff Member” in 2005 at Art + Science.  In October 2013, Kelly received advanced training at the Creative Collections course at Vidal Sassoon Academy in Seattle; she has also received advanced training from Suki’s Academy in Vancouver, Vidal Sassoon London, Vidal Sassoon Santa Monica, California and Vidal Sassoon Toronto.  She also attended the Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica studying under Mazella & Palmer. Kelly has also completed advanced business training at Bumble and Bumble Academy in New York.  Her work has been featured at many fashion shows including Nieman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Marshall Fields and the Art Institute of Chicago.  Kelly worked exclusively with Oribe in New York on hairdressing, 2011. Most recently, Kelly became an Arrojo Ambassador for well known stylist Nick Arrojo. She enjoys educating hairdressers all over the country, sharing her new ideas, inspirations and creative techniques using the Arrojo Product line.

July 2012 in Paris, Kelly participated in a Fashion Runway Workshop taught by Oribe’s Ramona Eschbach. The intensive, hands-on class was followed the next day by styling the hair of runway models for clothing designer Rad Hourani. Hourani was the first designer to present unisex haute couture collection during Paris Haute Couture Week (July 1-5, 2012).

Kelly focuses much of her free time giving back to others. Not only does Kelly volunteer at hospice, but she assists in the care of newborn children as a Cradle Adoption Volunteer. She is a committee member for the “Day of Beauty” for battered women and is a stylist for their events. When it comes to fitness, Kelly is a certified Spin Instructor, Yoga Instructor, and competes in triathlons for breast cancer awareness. In her personal time, Kelly enjoys cooking, traveling, yoga, mixing music, photography and creating collages (visual art work).

What has been the highlight of your career?
I would say opening a salon, as well as working Paris Fashion Week!

What is the best thing about working at BBS?
Working with my sister every day! Honestly, I love working with our team here at BBS. They inspire me every day!

What do you do in your free time?
I love swimming, yoga, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and close friends.

What is one hair care product you can’t live without?
Oribe’s Royal Blowout

What continuing education have you participated in?
I attend advanced classes at Arrojo Academy, Vidal Sassoon Academies, and Oribe Ateliers around the country every year.

What does your job entail?
I’m a salon owner with a lot of passion for what I do. I try to set an example on how to be a leader, show responsibility, hopefully inspire, and help create an environment where our team can express themselves creatively. I feel it is important to stay humble and honest throughout life.
