After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from Brigham Young University, Barbara attended and graduated from Pivot Point Academy here in Chicago. Her career began at TRIO Salon in Chicago, where she completed her advanced training and became a hair color and texture specialist. After a few years, Barbara moved to TRIO Salon’s Evanston location where she quickly became the resident expert in hair straightening techniques. In addition she is very talented hair colorist, with a main focus on maintaining the integrity and overall health of the hair. She has acquired quite a following due to her promptness, talent, and warm personality. She has attended classes and become certified in several brands of Brazilian Keratin Treatments. Barbara’s most recent subject of interest and study has been the balayage highlighting technique. In 2010 she attended a balayage training course at the L’Oreal Professionnel Soho Academy in New York. She fell in love with the technique and continues to seek out advanced training courses related to balayage.
When Barbara is not behind the chair, she loves to study art history and psychology. Her favorite pastime is hanging out with her main squeeze, a Jack Russell/Corgi mix named Dexter. Barbara is also very passionate about traveling abroad and learning about other cultures. There is often an annual adventure overseas for her.

Where did you start your career?
I started out at Trio Salon in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, later going on to work at Trio Salon in Evanston. I worked for Trio Salon for 11 years before moving to Beauty and Balance Salon in 2014.
What is your specialty?
I would say highlighting and balayage. I love all the effects that can be created using balayage, such as ombre, sombre, color melt, etc. I also excel at using chemical hair straighteners/ smoothers, such as permanent relaxers and brazilian keratin treatments.
Who is your style icon?
Alexander McQueen and Dolce & Gabbana
What is one hair care product you can’t live without?
Oribe’s Gold Lust Oil… I swear it’s the nectar of the gods!
What continuing education have you participated in?
The list is too long! I love taking classes on hair dressing, braiding, and updo’s. I’ve enjoyed attending courses by many different brands of keratin treatments. My favorite and most useful classes have been Guy Tang’s balayage classes and advanced balayage at the L’Oreal Professional Academy in Soho, NYC.
